NAATI Translators and Translation Services

WHAT IS NAATI?

The National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters Ltd (known as NAATI) is the national standards and accreditation body for translators and interpreters in Australia.
NAATI’s mission, as outlined in the NAATI Constitution, is to;
“set and maintain high national standards in translating and interpreting to enable the existence of a pool of accredited translators and interpreters responsive to the changing needs and demography of the Australian community”
The core focus of NAATI is issuing credentials (known as accreditations or recognitions) for professionals who wish to work as translators and interpreters in Australia.

What is a NAATI certified translation?

In Australia, foreign documents not written in English, must be accompanied by a NAATI accredited or NAATI certified translation, for certain administrative procedures or, to guarantee the access of certain rights and services.
Be it legal documents like, birth, school, marriage certificates, and legal contracts. Or, export related documents like; user guides, generic certificate of origin and dangerous goods certificate.
Government authorities like, the immigration department, the judiciary, and customs, will need a certified NAATI translation for you to conduct any official business in Australia if and when you have a non-English document.
This mandate falls upon the NAATI (National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters) which is the sole body that gives certification and accreditation for translators as contemplated by Australia’s professional and translation standards.
